Opening Comments
Skipjack is a 1998 Carolina Classic with roughly 4500 hours of use in 11 years; 2000 of which are on a new pair of 2004 Volvo D4-260s. The boat was repowered in March 04 by Laytons Custom Boatworks in consultation with the Carolina Classic factory. Engines and mechanicals are aggressively and proactively maintained; full service records available. The boat has a long history of raising fish has canyon range and capability. Carolina Classic builds a fast tough 24 degree deadrise deep V hull with superb head sea capability. The ride combined with the warm and dry enclosed helm station makes this a viable 8 month season New England boat. Cod fish the Bank in the early spring chase stripers in the sounds and bay in May fish for bluefin through early July; then canyon fish through September before ending the season out east and up on the bank hunting for bluefin again.
